Last Day

We left the Taj in Mangalore yesterday afternoon and flew back to Mumbai. I stayed at the BAWA again.

Here's the pool at the Taj...

Indian men are often very affectionate, it doesn't mean that they are gay, it's just showing the bond that many have with each other here...

How about a reverse round about?...
Then on Saturday, my guy took me on a tour of Mumbai. One of the neatest places we visited was this beach side food court. I think they keep the cow on hand in case they run low on milk...
They make all sorts of Indian dishes. This place is considered fairly up-scale...

Snow cone anyone?...

This guy wanted to be my friend... until he realized I didn't have any food...

Here's a pan of the beach...

Another view of the beach, there were dogs everywhere...

Various stops we would see people approach the car either trying to sell stuff, or in this case, just beg... He really turned on the "pathetic look" when he saw my camera.

This is the Mumbai sea gateway...

The inscription at the top...

This is the original Taj hotel in Mumbai. We walked around inside, it was super ritzy!...

This was at a small pier and there were quite a few dogs roaming about. Here's a sad looking one relaxing on the breakwall..

Off and on while driving around today we would get monsoon rains...

Just wet...

I finally saw a cat! In a very odd location to boot...

We visited a park at the top of a hill. The park is actually built on top of a huge fresh water storage tank...

Lovers lane.
This spot along the coast is one of few places where young lovers can show affection in public. It is not acceptable in any other public place...

That about wraps up my trip to India. Tonight I leave around midnight for the good 'ole USA.
I hope I remember which side of the road to drive on when I pick up my car, it's been awhile!
If all goes well (and the NWA pilots don't call in sick) I should be home early Sunday afternoon.

Great pics. Looks like it was perhaps worth the extra day to take in some of the more "civilized" sights.

The dogs roaming around... that just seems weird to me. That cat certainly is drawing a crowd though. with all the dogs running free, it's probably tough for a stray cat to find a place to hide. It IS Asia... cat's are pretty low on the food chain, wink wink, nudge nudge.

That's one helluva big-ass wok at the food court.

Looks like you managed to have some fun. I would suggest avoiding the urge to wedge your car wherever you can fit it, and frequent horn honking once you get back here.
